In the National Park of the Serengeti in Africa, a wildebeest, gazelle or a buffalo, must outrun the fastest lion or cheetah to survive. On the other hand, to live, the predators need to be faster than the slowest of their prey. Mother Nature is a tough and unforgiving judge at the finishing line, no prize for ‘effort’ or second place. As they say in The Serengeti, when the sun comes up, be you predator or prey, be ready to run – fast.

You have your own jungle to survive (yes, I’m mixing metaphors), where your opposition may be a larger organization, perhaps they have a ‘bigger hammer’ they can wield in pressure to be paid, based on a unique product or service. On the other hand, they may be more nimble, able to react quicker to a situation like Covid.

Are you ready to run – fast, when the sun comes up on your Serengeti?

You sure? How about a few questions.

  1. When was the last time you revised and improved your email and notices?
  2. Are your customers taking seriously ‘your terms’ of payment?
  3. Have you listed the ten major reasons your customers give for non or delayed payment?
  4. Do you have the questions and statements for each of those ten?
  5. What are the top five reasons your customers ‘should’ pay you…and on time?
  6. When did you last read a book on collection or negotiation techniques?

Okay? I’m sure you get the idea. On your mark, ready, set….go!
